Ski Guiding for the visually impaired, Akaslompolo, Northern Finland – Feb 2020

If you would like to give something back to the sport and also have a great week skiing with a sociable group of visually impaired skiers, then your help would be greatly appreciated. A group of blind and partially sighted skiers are going to Akaslompolo in Finland for the last week of February 2020. Ebony Hall of Tyneside Loipers has signed up as a guide for this year. Anyone else interested in acting as a guide should please contact ">Lyn Street as soon as possible.  Download the information sheet here.

Alasdair Wilson volunteered as a guide in 2014 and his report is in the Feb 2015 Loipers newsletter. And here is another more recent article from 2018.

Stop Press If you would like to ski at Akaslompolo for the last week in February (22nd to 29th), there are two spare rooms booked at the hotel which are now surplus to requirements. You can have a great week of cross-county skiing at a reasonably price and you can choose to socialise with the rest of the group (or not). Contact Lyn Street.
